Uninvited Guests is the fourth chapter of Act 1 in Man of Medan and the fifth overall.

The player controls Fliss as she and Conrad await the return of Alex and Julia. This chapter can be played fully only in Curator's Cut.

Duke of Milan, 6:15 P.M.

While Alex and Julia are underwater, Conrad tries to flirt with Fliss and offers her a beer, which she can accept or refuse. Conrad examines the Duke and asks Fliss where she got the money from, to which she can answer or reply that it is not polite to ask a woman about her money. Conrad says that his family can help Fliss by making an investment to her business, which she can either appreciate or be offended, saying that she made her own business from scratch. Suddenly, Fliss is distracted by the boat's tablet and decides to check on the Duke while Conrad continues to drink beer.

Once finished with the controls, Fliss can:

• Talk to Conrad, where she can be stern and serious or relaxed and romantic.
  • Talk to Conrad again, for some short dialogue.
• Check dive photos on a tablet.
• Unlock a drawer and find a letter regarding her debt.
• Talk to Brad, who will be lying on the bed or sitting on the couch. Fliss can ask him about Alex's diving history or his interest in World War II.
  • Talk to Brad again, for some short dialogue.
• Hide her fake license so that Brad and Julia cannot discover it in the next chapter.
• Try to contact Alex and Julia with the radio. In Shared Story, Julia can respond and the girls will have a dialogue where Fliss can inquire about what they're doing, ask if everything is okay, warn them to be careful, or apologize for her tone earlier.
• Unlock and enter her cabin to find a picture.
• Contact the coastguard and ask about wreck guidelines or complain about her clients.
• Go through Julia's things to find her perfume (if Conrad didn't move it) and book.
• Look through the binoculars and notice a boat in a distance. She can order Conrad to be quiet or express concerns about an unknown vessel. Conrad will suggest that it could be fishermen, which Fliss may agree with or ask him to be on guard.

Note: This segment has a timer and will automatically switch to the next segment when the fishermen's boat comes very close to the Duke.

Fliss and Conrad notice approaching fishermen

Swimming too close to the Duke, the speedboat collides with the buoy connected to the divers. Fliss can tell them to get out of here or that they've got divers in the water. The leader of the fishermen is angry with the duo because they scraped the speedboat against the Duke. Conrad taunts the fisherman by throwing money into the water, angering him. The leader orders the other two fishermen to go as they speed away.

Note: The following segment is skipped in Theatrical Cut.

Fliss can laugh at Conrad or get mad at him for what he did. After another flirtation with Conrad, the couple hears a message from Julia that they are coming back. Fliss goes to the wheel while Conrad lights the grill, but he goes overboard with the oil, causing the grill to explode. Fliss tries to put out the fire, but the fire extinguisher doesn't work and as she goes down to the cabin to grab another fire extinguisher, a second explosion occurs. Fliss/Conrad puts out the fire, after which she can scold Conrad or say it was her fault, since this is her boat.

At this point Alex and Julia surface and ask what happened and why there is money floating on the water. To the first question about the fire, Fliss can blame Conrad or say it's just a little incident, and to the second question she can answer that Conrad threw the money away or justify by telling about the situation with the fishermen. After learning what happened, Alex starts talking about the wreck.

• If Julia accepted the proposal, she will interrupt Alex and show the ring, to which Conrad and Fliss will congratulate them and offer to celebrate.
• If Julia didn't accept the proposal or Alex didn't propose, Alex will reveal that the cockpit was broken from the plane when the fishermen ran into the dive line, angering Fliss.

Meeting The Curator

The Curator will appear, commenting on the situations with the heroes: the relationship between Alex and Brad, Alex's relationship with Julia (should she have feelings for him or not) and the relationship between Conrad and Fliss (should there a spark between them or Fliss resisted his charms). At the end, the Curator will tell that the player made choices that will affect the hero in the future. Depending on Julia's choice to decompress (should she reject Alex's offer to do it twice), the Curator will say that player is doing well or the protagonists will regret their choice.

• During Shared Story, both this chapter and Dive are played at the same time.
  • In Theatrical Cut, the chapter ends when Olson is angered and occurs before Dive.
  • In Curator's Cut, the chapter is played in full and occurs after Dive.
