Ultimatum is the ninth and final chapter of Act 3 in The Devil in Me and the thirty-ninth overall.

The player controls Mark (Theatrical Cut) and Kate (Curator's Cut) as both of them discover the ferryman's secret while Du'Met attempts to strike a deal with Mark. This chapter can be replaced by Lake.

Unknown Location

Mark wakes up in a cage and sees Kate tied on a stretcher with small tubes going from a beaker and leading up her nostrils. Du'Met drops a tear of hydrochloric acid directly onto her skin, causing her to scream in pain. He displays a video recorded by Morello. In it, Morello reveals that he led the Lonnit crew into believing he was Du'Met in exchange for his daughter's life, and that Du'Met is now requiring Mark to do the same thing (essentially a Ponzi scheme). The number is speed-dialed to June Collins on a phone next to him and there's a script in front of him to follow. Mark can accept the deal or refuse it.

• If Mark refuses the deal or says nothing, he is suffocated while Du'Met injects Kate with acid through her nose, dissolving her insides.
• If Mark accepts the deal, Du'Met listens in on the call. As June is heard on the phone, Mark can call for help or comply with the script.
  • If Mark asks June for help, she becomes confused and believes it's a prank call before hanging up. The same results then play out as if he refused the deal.
  • If Mark complies with the script, a montage of Mark doing the same actions like Morello did is shown (picking up the group with the ferry, welcoming them on the island, and checking them in the hotel). Mark and Kate then make a break to the ferry and escape with it. Meanwhile, the child of the Collins watch the couple leaving through a window.

• If Mark refuses to take Du'Met's deal, says nothing, or accepts the deal but calls for help, he will be suffocated by poisonous gas.

Trivia

• This is the third chapter for Kate and the second for Mark in which they can die.
• This chapter will only occur if Kate and Mark are the only survivors and the former fell for Du'Met's impersonation. Otherwise, Lake will occur instead.
• The unknown location in which the chapter takes place can be seen in Scouting in the left corridor after going up the stairs next to Kate's room.
