Troubled History is the second chapter of Act 2 in Little Hope and the thirteenth overall.
The player controls Andrew and Daniel (Theatrical Cut) and John and Taylor (Curator's Cut) as both duos arrive at a museum.
Little Hope Museum, 1:31 A.M.[]
John and Andrew open the door and find themselves in a museum. John tells Andrew to stay focused and that they should get out and hook up with the others. While exploring the museum, they can find:
- Writ of Forfeiture with a plaque "Lambert Writ" underneath.
- Hanging mannequins.
- Amy's portrait with Mary's testimony.
- Mary's witness statement sealed with "READY FOR TRANSFER" cover.
- Courtroom Illustration sealed with "READY FOR TRANSFER" cover.
- A window sealed with "READY FOR TRANSFER" cover. When Andrew/John takes off the cover, a cat will run past the window.
- A book titled "The New England Witch Trials".
- A poppet. Andrew will point out that he and Angela saw the same one on the road near the bar.
- If John decides to take the doll, he assumes that Mary's spirit is attached to the poppet and offers Andrew to burn it, thinking they can stop Mary.
- If Andrew agrees, John will set the doll on fire with a lighter.
- If Andrew refuses, he argues that they can piss Mary off, to which John will agree.
- If John decides to take the doll, he assumes that Mary's spirit is attached to the poppet and offers Andrew to burn it, thinking they can stop Mary.
Leaving the museum, Andrew asks why the girl brought them here. John will reply that perhaps she was leading them to poppet and that the job is done, although Andrew replies that he is not sure about that.
Woods, 1:36 A.M.[]
Meanwhile, Daniel and Taylor are walking in the woods past a sewer grate.
- If Angela is alive, they will hear noise coming from the grate (the Drowned Demon chasing Angela) and, thinking that it is one of the others, Daniel will call out to them before Taylor tells him to move on.
- If Angela is dead, they will ignore the sewers but be able to inspect the grate.
While walking down the trail, Taylor will talk about either Angela or John.
- If Angela survived The Crossing, Taylor says that Angela has no interest in finding her and Daniel replies that he has known Angela for longer than anyone else, and despite her rudeness, she has a soft side.
- If Angela died in The Crossing, Taylor will say that John may have left them after looking for help and Daniel says that John would never leave them there.
Walking along the trail, the couple reaches the museum. Daniel offers to find an entrance, offering Taylor a ten bucks bet if no one is inside. They can try to open the doors, but they will be closed. After finding the window and checking that there is no one inside, Daniel tells Taylor that she owes him ten bucks, but she will answer that she didn't take the bet.
- If Daniel broke Taylor's phone while he was looking for the entrance to the general store, Taylor will say that she will put the money toward the new phone that Daniel will buy her.
After making their way to the museum and getting frightened by a manequin, the couple enters the main room. Taylor notices someone running past and walking into the room. Daniel gets distracted and loses Taylor.
Daniel looks around the museum until he hears voices outside the door. Daniel tries to open it, overhears the conversation along the way and eventually opens the door.
Taylor opens the door and is grabbed by Tabitha, who asks her for help. Isaac enters the house and says that the court learned from Joseph that Mary had the devil's plaything, poppet, and that Tabitha did it. She tries to get Mary to say that she made the poppet with her owns hands, but Mary lies about it. Tabitha asks Taylor for help again and she can take the doll or force Mary to tell the truth. Isaac, not seeing Taylor, sees a flying doll/shaking Mary and considers it witchcraft, after which he arrests Tabitha.
After reuniting, the frightened Taylor explains to Daniel what she saw and offers him to leave the museum. The couple may find the same things as Andrew and John, with four exceptions:
- Instead of the book "The New England Witch Trials" there will be a bible, inside which occult symbols are drawn.
- If Andrew and John burned the poppet, the couple can find the doll's ashes.
- A knife on the table, which one of the protagonists will take with them.
- A picture on a table near the window.
After leaving the museum, Daniel and Taylor will continue to search for the others.
Meeting The Curator[]
The player meets The Curator, who asks if things becoming more clearer.
- If Angela is alive, he says that the demon won't stop following her.
- If Angela died in Lost, he says that she has reached an unpleasant end, "if it really is the end."
After that the Curator can comment on the fate of the doll from the museum.
- If John and Andrew decide to burn the child's toy, he will spitefully ask the player, could this decision save them.
The Curator takes a letter opener from the desk and walks over to the fireplace.
- If the player finds a gun and a knife, he will say that another death weapon has been added to the group's collection and that it is good work.
- If the player only took a knife, he will say that it might prove useful.
- If the player threw the gun and took the knife, he will say that at least someone has a weapon and that it must be kept.
- If the player doesn't find the gun and knife, he will say with displeasure that they lost another opportunity to arm protagonists and they should take more care and be diligent.
The Curator then offers a second hint to the player:
- If the player accepts it, the Curator will explain that "We each have our own demons. They are ours and ours alone, and they are often born out of regret".
- If the player rejects it or stays silent, he will unsatisfyingly suggest that the player wants to piece things together themselves and remind them that the stakes are much greater than life and death.
The Curator sends the player back to the game, before quoting the Irish playwright that "every saint has a past and every sinner has a future" and adding that Mary is just a child.

- There is a book "New England Witch Trials" when Andrew and John enter the museum, but when Daniel and Taylor enter, it is replaced by the Old Bible. This is a hint that the environment is being manipulated by Anthony's imagination.
- The Curator's clues hint at the fact that the demons only pursue their counterparts, Carver secretly forces Mary to accuse the victims, and Mary herself is innocent.
