Trial is the second chapter of Act 1 in The Devil in Me and the third overall.

It is a cutscene and has no gameplay. The chapter focuses on the Lonnit crew as they review the work-in-progress footage for their final episode and are interrupted by a mysterious call.

The scene opens with the trial of H.H. Holmes. The judge hits his gavel on the table, stating the court has heard enough from Holmes, to which the killer tells the judge he's barely begun. Holmes then says his infamous quote, "I was born with the devil in me. I could not help the fact I was a murderer anymore than a poet can help the inspiration to sing." Holmes ends his speech with a request to the judge to bury him deeper than anyone else and fill his coffin with cement, arguing that being dead isn't enough to stop him from killing again.

Kate breaks into the scene, explaining about Holmes's execution. She states that the force of hanging did not snap his neck, causing him to slowly suffocate for 15 minutes. As Kate walks up to Holmes, she continues her speech, saying that although he confessed to killing 27 people, after an investigation the number of victims grew to nearly 200. Kate then turns to the screen, stating that Holmes was buried as requested under concrete, before ending the scene with a question, that is if Holmes was hoping to hide from God's judgment or if he truly wanted to keep the devil from climbing out and killing again.

The scene is revealed to be played on a TV inside an office, during the meeting of the crew. Charlie asks for an opinion from the other crew, but the others are clearly unimpressed and hesitant to speak. Jamie decides to give an opinion when she is interrupted by a phone call, which Charlie answers. As Charlie speaks on the phone, the man on the phone reveals his name as Granthem Du'Met. Charlie asks what he can do for Du'Met, but Du'Met corrects him, saying it's actually what he can do for Charlie, before requesting him to hear him out.
