Man of Medan[]
Man of Medan was released on August 30, 2019 and became the first installment of The Dark Pictures Anthology, as well as Season One premiere. It is based on the legend of the SS Ourang Medan, a ghost ship in which the entire crew died under suspicious circumstances.
Man of Medan begins the anthology with the story of four friends and their skipper embarking on a dive trip to the South Pacific. The trip doesn't go exactly according to plan, and as night falls, the group find themselves trapped aboard a ghost ship. Stressed and terrified, they desperately try to escape, lest they suffer the fate of the ship's previous crew.
Little Hope[]
Little Hope was released on October 30, 2020 and became the second installment of The Dark Pictures Anthology. It is based on the Salem and Andover witch trials of 1692.
Little Hope tells the story of a college class who get stranded in the abandoned town of Little Hope following a bus crash. Unable to leave because of the mysterious fog, they seek another way out while learning about the town's history. Watching the witch trials and horrified to discover their own involvement in them, the shadows of Little Hope rise up from the past to haunt their souls.
House of Ashes[]
House of Ashes was released on October 22, 2021 and became the third installment of The Dark Pictures Anthology. It is based on Sumerian mythology and the fall of the kingdom of Akkad.
House of Ashes takes place at the end of the Iraq War. U.S. Special Forces are sent to the Arabian Desert in search of weapons of mass destruction, only to unearth a lost Sumerian temple instead. Hunted by the ancient evil, the Americans have no other choice but to forge an alliance with their Iraqi enemies to survive the night underground and see the next daylight.
The Devil in Me[]
The Devil in Me was released on November 18, 2022 and became the fourth installment of The Dark Pictures Anthology, as well as Season One finale. It is based on the story of America's first serial killer, Henry Howard Holmes and his hotel "Murder Castle".
The Devil in Me follows a group of documentary film makers who were invited to a replica of H.H. Holmes' "Murder Castle". Seeing this as a perfect opportunity to win public interest to their show, the crew accepts the invitation without hesitation, but soon begins to regret it. Finding themselves alone with an uninvited guest, the crew finally realizes that it's not their show ratings that's at stake, but their lives.
