We each have our own demons. They are ours and ours alone...
This article is about The Dark Pictures Anthology's second installment, Little Hope .

I gotta get away from here. And my "wonderful" family. Like, right now.

Tanya A. Clarke is a false protagonist and a playable character in The Dark Pictures Anthology's second installment, Little Hope. She was the adopted older daughter in the Clarke family and also one of those who died during the fire in their home in 1972. She was voiced and motion captured by Caitlyn Sponheimer and was modelled on Eleni Miariti. Her motion capture performance was assisted by Cheryl Burniston.

Appearance[]

Tanya is a young woman with a tanned complexion and smooth skin. She has light green eyes and medium long wavy red hair down to her shoulders, combed with two bangs on the sides, but still opening her forehead. For work, Tanya has a light makeup routine of wearing eyelashes and lime eyeshadows.

Tanya wears a work uniform consisting of a dark green zip-front knee-length dress with a white V-neck blouse underneath and a red identification plate and a pair of white sneakers. For the outside, Tanya wears a knee-length green mink coat along with a cream-colored gloves, a wool beret and a long scarf with pompoms.

Tanya wears several accessories which include: golden earrings and a crescent-shaped necklace, a green cloth watch and a thin red bracelet on her left and right wrists respectively and finally four small silver rings (two on the left index and little fingers and two on the right little and ring fingers)

Personality[]

Tanya's most notable trait is her desire to spend as little time with her family as possible and to be free. This is not just because she is a young adult woman, but also because Tanya is tired of her noisy family. However, in spite of this, she gets along with some relatives (mostly her brothers) and worries about family problems, although she doesn't pay attention to them.

Biography[]

Tanya was born on August 22, 1949 and was subsequently adopted by spouses Anne and James Clarke, becoming an older sister for Dennis, Anthony and Megan. At some point, Tanya started working at a diner as a waitress and began dating Vince, James's colleague.

January 17, 1972 was a usual day for Tanya. Upon returning home after work, she decided to check on Megan, who was upset after her parents quarreled. However, Tanya ended up locked on the balcony when a fire started within the house. Tanya tried to escape, but unfortunately did not make it.

Prologue[]

Tanya is first seen when she returns home after being driven up by Vince in his car. The couple discusses Tanya's "wonderful family" and, agreeing to meet tomorrow, say goodbye. Going to the house, Tanya tries to open the door only to find it frozen, but luckily Anthony helps open the door from the other side. The siblings discuss family problems, after which Tanya decides to check on Megan at Anthony's request.

Entering Megan's room, Tanya tries to talk to her, but Megan refuses. Suddenly, a crow crashes through the window, startling Tanya. She goes out to the balcony and picks up the bird's feather when she hears Megan lock the door. Tanya asks her to open the door but Megan ignores her, so Tanya starts shouting at Anthony for help.

During the fire, Tanya is still on the balcony and asks Anthony for help, not knowing what to do. As the fire intensifies, Tanya, on her own or with Anthony's help, tries to escape from the balcony but dies, either by hanging on a scarf or being burned in the fire. After a while, Tanya is buried in the cemetery with the rest of the deceased family members.

Main Story[]

As the protagonists make their way through Little Hope, they can find secrets related to Tanya and her family. At the end of the game, when it turns out that everything was Anthony's hallucination, Tanya is revealed to be the prototype of Taylor, Tabitha, and the Hanged/Burned Demon.

Relationships[]

James[]

James is Tanya's adoptive father. The two didn't interact in the prologue, but it can be assumed that they had a strained relationship due to James's alcoholism. Also according to Tanya's diary, he didn't like Tanya dating his co-worker Vince.

Anne[]

Anne is Tanya's adoptive mother. The two didn't interact in the prologue, but according to Tanya's diary, Anne disapproved of her dating Vince.

Dennis[]

Dennis is Tanya's adoptive younger brother. The two interacted once in the prologue, but showed that they got along well and had a typical sibling relationship.

Anthony[]

Anthony is Tanya's adoptive younger brother. As shown in the prologue, the two got along very well, even though Tanya cared less about family problems than Anthony. During the fire, Tanya asks Anthony for help and he can choose to help his sister.

Megan[]

Megan is Tanya's adoptive younger sister. Tanya was often annoyed by her sister with her strange behavior and the need to constantly keep an eye on her to make sure she didn't cause havoc. But in spite of this, Tanya cared about her sister as she decides to check on Megan after she got upset about their parents' quarrel.

Vince[]

Vince is Tanya's boyfriend. As Tanya writes in her diary, she found Vince attentive and kind as well as enjoyed spending time with him. Her death seriously affected Vince as he became depressed, began to drink and skip work. Even 48 years after the tragedy, Vince continued to love Tanya and care for her grave.

Facts[]

  • Anthony recreated Tanya as сollege student Taylor in 2019 and Puritan Tabitha Milton in 1692.
  • Tanya, along with Vince, practiced paganism. This is shown on most of Tanya's items in the shape of a crescent moon, which according to the book is the feminine counterpart to the sun, which can be found on Vince's items.
    • This is ironic considering that Tanya says she doesn't understand Anthony's interest in witchcraft upon finding his Puritan figurine.
  • Tanya's diary reveals more information about her home and work life.
    • Also, her diary reveals that she worked as a waitress, but doesn't indicate which establishment.
  • According to the grave, Tanya's middle name begins with A.
  • The frequent quarrel between Taylor and John in Act 1 can be related to the fact that James was displeased that Tanya was dating his colleague Vince.

Deaths[]

  • Tanya is the third/fourth member of the Clarke family to die in the fire.
  • Tanya, along with her reincarnations and Angela are the only characters in the game who have multiple deaths.
    • However, while all of Angela's deaths are related to water, the deaths of Tanya and her reincarnations are related either to fire or air.
  • Tanya's death from the hanging/neck breaking and burning became the basis for Tabitha's execution and Taylor's death from the Hanged/Burned Demon.
  • Tanya's death from hanging was featured in Man of Medan's gold picture.
