Staff Only is the eleventh chapter of Act 1 in The Devil in Me and the twelfth overall.

The player controls Jamie as she tries to set gaslight in the lobby.

Lobby

Jamie messes with an outlet and is shocked, turning off the hotel's power. She hears something whir behind a door and says it must be the breaker, entering an unfamiliar hallway. Before going forward, she can explore the lobby and second floor balcony to find:

• Hotel Guest Book.
• Welcome Postcard.
• Morello Family Invitation.
• Show Script.
• A spotlight. It doesn't turn on when she flips its switch.
• The counter above the stairs. It now reads 0180.

Before moving farther down the hall into the maintenance room, Jamie can explore a side room and find:

• Office Corkboard.
• Will Amendment.
• A calendar for 2017, with the date of the hotel's grand opening circled.
• A locked door to the maintenance room. It can only be unlocked from within the maintenance room.

Jamie eventually reaches the maintenance room, where she can find:

• Construction Invoice.
• Construction Letter.
• Auction Receipt.
• A locked door with a number pad. The code to open it is 0451, and within the small room is a fuse box for Jamie to fix in order to restore power.
• A radio. If power is restored, it begins broadcasting a storm warning for the Great Lakes area, and Jamie can turn it off.

Beyond the maintenance room is a show room and connected office. Inside the office if Sherman Tape 2, which cannot be played initially. Once power is restored, a button in the show room lights up, and can be pressed to open the curtains on the stage and reveal animatronics of a barbershop quartet singing. If Jamie approaches them, they stop singing. On stage she can view them from a different angle or pick up the tape to play Sherman Tape 2, which results in one of the animatronics scaring her. Upon picking up the tape, she takes it to the recorder and plays it to unlock the secret.

Once power has been restored, Jamie can exit through the door in the show room to find Charlie in the lobby setting up a director's chair. They talk about setting up, and Jamie can either ask where everyone else is, apologizing for stirring things up at dinner (if Dinner ended negatively or neutrally), or thank him for what he said at dinner (if Dinner ended positively). In Shared Story, Jamie is forced to go through the door even if power hasn't been restored if the other player finishes Noises. Suddenly, Charlie and Jamie hear Erin scream, and run to find her.

• Sherman Tape 2 - On a desk in the room adjacent to the stage. Jamie must turn the power back on, press a button to open the curtains of the stage, and pick up the cassette on the stage near the right animatronic in order to activate it.

Trivia

• In Shared Story, both this and Noises are played at the same time.
• The code to unlock the breaker room, 0451, is a common video game Easter egg.
