Silver Ash is the fourth chapter of Act 2 in The Devil in Me and the seventeenth overall.

The player controls Erin as she stumbles upon the Silver Ash Institute. This chapter is exclusive to the Theatrical Cut.

Erin's Bedroom, 11:03 P.M.

Erin goes through the recording of her experience in the blacked out room and realizes she has proof that someone was with her. As she prepares to tell the others, her door closes, and she finds it locked. A wall in her room opens and she finds it extremely dusty, optionally using her inhaler. She then climbs the stairs and walks down a hallway, possibly viewing a poster, before entering the Silver Ash Institute. In the next two rooms, she can examine:

• A pair of animatronics depicting a patient and a surgeon holding a needle. If Erin touches the surgeon, the animatronics activate, with the patient vomiting into a bucket and the surgeon stabbing the patient with a needle. This startles Erin.
• An audio tape of Charlie requesting that Du'Met kills the crew. Upon hearing this, Erin is shocked.
• Jamie's phone, where she makes fun of Erin to a friend. Erin is angered by this.
• Sherman Tape 3.
• School Letter.
• An H.H. Holmes nameplate.
• A framed poster.

After a few minutes, Erin hears Jamie talking to her through the microphone in the patient animatronic's mouth. Erin can ask what is happening or, if she saw Jamie's phone, confront Jamie about her texts, which Jamie says aren't important. Jamie tells Erin to listen to her, and then either instructs Erin to hide in the cupboard (as she always does in Theatrical Cut), run, or says nothing. Suddenly, the lights go out, and Erin can decide whether to hide or run.

• If Erin hides and Jamie told her to hide in the cupboard, she enters the cupboard and watches in fear as Du'Met enters the room and turns out the lights.
• If Erin hides and Jamie did not tell her to hide in the cupboard, she goes under the desk and Du'Met enters before flipping it over and grabbing her.
• If Erin does nothing, Du'Met enters the room and knocks her out with chloroform.
• If Erin runs, she opens the door she came through and finds Du'Met. Terrified, she backs up and trips over the two animatronics, activating them and killing her as the surgeon stabs her in the eye with the needle.

• In Shared Story, both this and Party are played at the same time.
• If Erin equips her microphone while in the Silver Ash Institute, she can hear Du'Met breathing behind the door.
• If Erin is dead, this chapter will be skipped.
• This, along with Party, is the second chapter in which Erin can die.
• This, along with Party, Incinerator, and Riddles, are the only chapters in the anthology exclusive to one Cut.
