Separated is the third chapter of Act 2 in The Devil in Me and the sixteenth overall.
The player controls Jamie (Theatrical Cut) and Charlie (Curator's Cut) as they try to find a way to get back to the others.
2nd Floor Corridors, 10:31 P.M.[]
- If Charlie's hand was not crushed, he is shown struggling to open the wall. Jamie asks what they should do now and Charlie says there must be another way around.
- If Charlie's hand was crushed, he is shown cradling his bloody hand. Jamie asks to help and bandages it, saying he needs a hospital. Charlie says that's another reason they need to escape and that they must round everyone up.
As the two explore the corridors, a wall closes in front of them, and Jamie questions what is going on with Du'Met. Charlie says he was nervous the whole way to the island, and Charlie surmises that since Jamie saw Du'Met take off, the man they met might not actually be Du'Met, with the masked man being the real Du'Met. Charlie then reasons that the contraption was set up for them to find, which Jamie agrees is further evidence that the ferryman is not really Du'Met.
As they explore, they can open a door to find a brick wall on the other side, which angers Jamie as Charlie points out that it is one of Holmes' infamous tricks. Charlie tries to map the hotel in his head and says he thinks Erin's room has been completely cut off, then goes on to explain that Du'Met is targeting her because she is the most easily frightened.
Eventually, the two reaches a stairwell going down, where they hear a child's voice asking for her father. The sound surprises the pair, who go down and can find an obol before trying to open the door.
- If Charlie's hand was crushed, he says it won't be good to open it, and Jamie tells him to use his shoulder.
They open the door and find a darkened dining room with a red light leaking in from the next room as the door closes behind them and the child's voice continues. The two look into the next room and find a freezer with dead pigs hanging on hooks. Jamie pushes open the door and it closes behind them as they enter.
The duo can now explore the freezer, with Charlie saying that they're in a Russian nesting doll. Jamie says he is going crazy, but Charlie says that even if they get out of the freezer, they don't know how to get out of the hotel or off the island.
The two can explore and find Natalie's Remains, which scares them and leads to Jamie saying that this is what happened to the last party that visited the hotel, before coming across another door. Charlie attempts to open it only for the handle to break off and a trap door to open underneath him, dropping him into a hole and leaving him stunned. Jamie calls after him and looks around the freezer in confusion.
