Secrets of Little Hope (divided into 2 parts of 25 pages each) are the third (part 1) and fourth (part 2) segments in Little Hope's Special Features. The first comic is unlocked by finding all the Witchcraft secrets, and the second by finding all the Family secrets.
Its content is in comic book form and it explains Carver's thoughts on the witch trials and Anthony's guilt over the fire.
Part 1[]
Carver writes a letter addressed to Judge Wyman. In it, he writes that the Little Hope community is bewitched and embraces paganism and admits that, despite attempts to resist, he fell into the occult and his soul became tainted by the Devil. Carver adds that he was trying to save the others from the same fate, which is why he conducted witch trials. Then he writes that his hands are stained with the blood of innocents, whose souls, through his fault, are forced to repeat their suffering over and over again.
Carver's confession is accompanied by images of both the 1692 witch trials and abandoned locations from modern Little Hope. Then, towards the middle of the comic, demons appear at the execution grounds and begin to follow Carver through the entire town. As they almost make it to Carver's house, he admits that now nothing will save him from punishment, even confession to God, and that he, like those he wronged, is doomed to live in a cycle of death and rebirth.
The scene suddenly cuts to the Clarke Family Home, where Megan is crying while reading Reverend Carson's Letter. The comic ends with Carver saying that his confession will never see the light of day at the risk of death, after which he throws the letter into a fireplace
Part 2[]
Anthony's therapist Hannah Stone visits him in a mostly unburned Clarke Family Home. She says that Anthony didn't show up for an appointment today and decided to visit him at home since she was driving through Little Hope.
After Anthony makes her coffee, they start talking about what happened. As they walk through various buildings of modern Little Hope (including factory, bar, general store and police station), they discuss the town's tragic history. Throughout this walk Anthony responds cryptically to Dr. Stone's questions as he insists that Little Hope should stay buried in the past.
At the police station, Anthony remembers how he was held here and he made the crude doll to remind himself of Megan, after which he suddenly breaks down. Dr. Stone reassures him that he didn't do anything wrong, to which Anthony says didn't do enough. Out in the corridor, Anthony sees all around reminders of his guilt and runs away from the police station to the cemetery. After visiting his family's graves, they find a poppet on the road. Picking it up, Anthony sees a brief flashback as he stood in front of the burning house and heard his family's screams for help.
After a flashback, the pair finds themselves back at Clarke's house. Hannah tells Anthony it's time to let go of the burden and hugs him, saying he'll be fine. Anthony thanks her, after which Stone disappears and the house appears burnt again. Left alone, Anthony says that he was so overcome with guilt that he forgot to mourn those he lost, even though they were always there. He sits down on the front steps and, holding the crude doll, says that he is at home.
Trivia[]
- Although all the secrets collected appear when reading the comics, there is no notification when they appear as there is for Secrets of the Ourang Medan.
- In the first comic, the characters' appearance differs from their in-game versions, and the content of the comic seems to take place in Anthony's mind.
