All that glisters is not gold, often have you heard that told...
This article is about The Dark Pictures Anthology's first installment, Man of Medan .

Revenge is the eleventh and final chapter of Act 2 in Man of Medan and the nineteenth overall.

The player controls Julia (Theatrical Cut) and Alex (Curator's Cut) as the couple flees from Olson in the lower deck.

Lower Deck, 3:11 A.M.[]

Julia and Alex run down the corridor from Olson, hallucinating him as one of Alex's doubles and a drowned corpse respectively. When the duo comes across a closed door, Julia tries to open it, but after realizing it's useless, she and Alex instead take an alternative route up some broken stairs. As they climb the stairs, the pair must perform several QTEs to avoid tripping.

  • If one of the protagonists fail the QTEs, the other can choose to either help them or to run ahead.

Continuing to run down the corridor, the duo soon comes across two hallways, with one leading to a dark doorway and the other leading to a pile of debris.

  • If the protagonist chooses to jump over the debris, they will need to complete two QTEs to successfully do so. If the duo successfully jumps over the debris, the protagonist who went up the stairs first will have a choice to either try to hit Olson with a metal bar or keep running.
    • If the protagonist attacks Olson, no matter if the QTE is completed or not, the other protagonist will be behind.
    • If the protagonist chooses to run with the other protagonist, they will be behind.
  • If the protagonist chooses to run into the doorway, they will be trapped in a bathroom as Olson slowly approaches them.
    • If only one protagonist is in the bathroom, Olson will grab and throw them through the door, reuniting the latter with the other protagonist.
    • If both Alex and Julia are in the bathroom, they will both try to open the door. The protagonist who made it up the stairs first will attempt to open the door. The other protagonist can either choose to help them or to investigate around.
      • If the other protagonist chooses to investigate, the door protagonist will eventually open the door themselves, no matter if the QTE is completed or not, and be behind.
      • If the other protagonist chooses to help, both protagonists will have to complete a QTE to open the door.
        • If any protagonist fails the QTE but the other one completes it, the door will still open, but they will be behind.
        • If both protagonists complete or fail the QTE, the door protagonist will be behind.

The couple starts to run up the stairs while Olson catches up to them, and makes it to the door that leads outside.

  • If Conrad is on the ship and alive, as the protagonist opens the door to the outside, Conrad accidentally blocks the couple's path, giving Olson enough time to catch up with them and grab the protagonist behind.
    • If the protagonist completes the last QTE, they will push Olson away and run outside as the second protagonist locks the door, after which Olson will yell at them through the door.
    • If the protagonist fails the last QTE, Olson will close the door from the other side and kill them in front of the rest of the survivors, who are watching in horror.
      • If Julia is the one who is caught, Olson will stab her in the back (if he has a knife) or break her neck (if he doesn't have a knife).
      • If Alex is the one who is caught, Olson will cut his throat (if he has a knife) or bash his head against the door repeatedly (if he doesn't have a knife).
    • If Julia called Conrad a clown in Trapped, he will momentarily appear as a clown briefly to the player controlling Julia if she escapes through the door first.
  • If Conrad is dead or had escaped on the speedboat, both Julia and Alex will get through the door and can hit Olson in the face with an object.

Alex and Julia fled from Olson

Either way, all remaining survivors reunite and run across the weather deck to a control room, where they reassure themselves that they'll be safe there.

  • If Julia died, Alex will angrily punch the wall, but say they have to get off the ship, whom Conrad (if on the ship and is still alive) agrees with.
  • If Alex died, Julia will fall to her knees and cry hysterically while Conrad/Brad tries to comfort her.
  • If Conrad died in Glamor Girl, Julia will ask Fliss and/or Brad about his status. The character who chased him will answer Julia's question.
    • If Conrad died by jumping off of the funnel's plank, Julia will ask about how he died.
      • Julia will find his body when running across the deck, and after arriving in the control room, will cry while Alex comforts her.
        • If the character has a high Deceitful trait, they will lie about ever seeing Conrad during his frenzy.
        • If the character has a high Truthful trait, they will tell the truth about seeing Conrad running away from them. They will say that they saw him jump off of the ship's funnel.
    • If Conrad died from anything else during his frenzy, Julia will ask if anyone has seen him.
      • If the character has a high Deceitful trait, they will lie about ever seeing Conrad during his frenzy.
      • If the character has a high Truthful trait, they will tell the truth about seeing Conrad running away from them. They will either say that he ran away from them and disappeared (if he fell from the funnel's ladder), that he fell (if he hid from them, failed the Keep Calm, and was unarmed), or that he wasn't found by them (if he fell from a beam).
  • If Fliss and Brad were together in Pressure, and one of them died, the surviving protagonist will tell the remaining survivor(s) about it.

Meeting The Curator[]

The player returns to the repository and meets The Curator standing by the bookshelves. He says that things have taken turn to the spiritual and returns to his desk.

  • If some protagonists died, he will comment on their deaths, saying how unlucky they were and that the player could have done otherwise.

Writing notes in the book, The Curator asks if the player figured out what was going on and how to save the protagonists, noting that the ship's former crew never managed to find out. The Curator then offers to help the player by giving a little hint.

  • If the player accepts the offer, The Curator will say that there may be forces at play here that are more scientific, and even that are more political and less supernatural.
  • If the player refuses the offer, The Curator will suggest that the player will be satisfied with the clues that they find themselves and wish them luck.

The Curator asks the player if they begin to realize that everything and everyone may not be quite what they appear to be. As he speaks, he throws cards on the table corresponding to the number of surviving protagonists. Finally, The Curator asks the player if they want to know what will happen next and sends them back to the game.
