Plunged is the ninth chapter of Act 2 in Man of Medan and the seventeenth overall.

The player controls Julia (Theatrical Cut) and Alex (Curator's Cut) as they are ambushed by Olson in a flooded cargo hold.

Cargo Hold 1, 2:52 A.M.

Alex and Julia cautiously walk across the damaged bridge when Olson sneaks up on them from behind. He slams the bridge with a sledgehammer, causing it to collapse and the pair falls into the water, losing consciousness.

Julia comes into her senses, only to find herself in the wrecked plane they searched earlier. She swims into the entrance in front of the cockpit and finds the same corpse, but with Alex's face. Julia is repulsed, but notices something in his hand.

• If Alex didn't propose and Julia didn't find the box, the soldier will have his locket.
• If Alex didn't propose and Julia found the box with the ring, the soldier will have the box in his hand, which turns out to be empty.
• If Alex proposed and Julia rejected him, the soldier will have his locket, but with Julia's face with crossed out eyes.
• If Alex proposed and Julia accepted it, the soldier will have the engagement ring.

After examining the object, Julia puts it back. At this moment, Alex's body suddenly wakes up, causing Julia to snap back to reality.

Alternatively, if Julia waits too long underwater without interacting with Alex's corpse, it will sneak up behind her and grab her shoulders before she returns to reality. Upon coming to her senses, Julia is perplexed to see two of Alex, one of whom is attacking the other.

Alex drowns Danny

Alex slowly sinks to the bottom. As he comes to his senses, he is pulled out of the water. His savior turns out to be Danny, but Alex sees him as a swollen corpse. Alex can perform QTEs to attack Danny, but it won't matter.

• If Alex kept the kitchen knife, it will have been dropped nearby.

Either way, Danny notices Julia floating motionless in the water. He jumps into the water and swims to the girl while Alex follows him. As Julia wakes up, Alex attacks Danny.

Alex helps Julia

As Alex begins to drown Danny, Julia can encourage him to keep going or tell him to stop, while Alex himself can keep drowning or stop.

• If Julia tells Alex to stop or Alex fails the QTE, he will let Danny go.
• If Julia encourages Alex or Alex completes the QTE, he will drown Danny until he loses consciousness.

After letting Danny go, the duo swims to shore and gets out of the water. As the pair regains their breath, Julia thanks Alex and comments on what he did. Before they can catch their breath, however, they see Danny thrown out of the water, either gasping for air or unconscious. Immediately behind him, a swollen Olson/other Alex appears, glaring at the pair.

• If Alex kept the kitchen knife, Olson will pick it up.

As Olson slowly approaches the duo, Alex manages to open the door and runs out into the hallway with Julia.

Trivia

• If Alex tries to drown Danny, it will appear that his attempt succeeded, as Danny will appear lifeless for the rest of the game. However, after the end credits, it is revealed that all the time he was just unconscious.
• If Conrad is on board the ship, this chapter will be followed by Glamor Girl. Otherwise it will be followed by Revenge.
