Kurum

Sub-Pages

You Akkadians fought hard to destroy our people, but mark my words, our story has just begun.

Kurum is one of the two false protagonists, a playable character, and potential central antagonist in The Dark Pictures Anthology's third installment, House of Ashes. He is a Gutian imprisoned by Naram-Sin. He was voiced and motion captured by Waleed Hammad and was modelled on Michael Addo.

Appearance[]

He wears a tribal attire and a skull necklace along with a cylinder seal. He has markings on his face and body.

Personality[]

While his traits are unknown, he is shown to be capable of fighting and isn't afraid to speak his mind about his personal belongings, like his seal when Balathu asked about it.

He is shown to mock Balathu when he makes a mistake or distance himself from the Akkadian. He is glad to see Naram-Sin dead and is willing to fight the Akkadians for his freedom.

Despite this, he is shown to be wise enough to work with Balathu when knowing that a greater force is attacking them and can fight alongside him when the time comes.

Biography[]

Kurum was a Gutian prisoner who was taken captive for sacrifice during the 23rd century BC. He despised the Akkadians and Naram-Sin.

On May 17, 2231 BC, Kurum was being put in a prison cell until he killed the guard that held him. When the eclipse came and more menacing threats had awoken, Kurum was forced to work with an Akkadian soldier named Balathu. However, their cooperation did not end well. Kurum would then stay as a monster or a preserved corpse for more than 4000 years.

House of Ashes[]

For his involvement as The Ancient One, see The Ancient One.

Prologue[]

Kurum is seen about to be sacrificed by Balathu, only to be interrupted by an Akkadian guard. The guard then takes Kurum to his cell. The guard then notices the cylinder on the necklace worn by Kurum. He is curious about it, but also mocks Kurum. Kurum then decides to kill the guard and takes his key to free himself. Before escaping, Kurum takes the guard's sword.

As Kurum enters the main hall of the temple, he notices all the guards and Naram-Sin dead. He quickly notices Balathu coming in blocking the door. He attempts to kill him, but realizes that there are bigger threats. He decides to team up with Balathu and escapes to the catacombs with his guide. While inside the catacomb, Balathu notices the cylinder and talks about it with Kurum, who can reveal that it symbolizes the history of Gutiam (if they have a high relationship). They then are attacked by a vampire. In this attack, Kurum will be infected or preserved by fluid.

Main Story[]

If Kurum was not infected, Salim and Jason will stumble upon Kurum's body being preserved in fluid inside the alien ship. They notice that Kurum is still alive. Before moving on, Salim decides to kill him mercifully.

Salim can then mention him when he's suggesting to his allies that they can use the fluid to save Rachel from turning into one of the vampires.
