Incinerator is the seventh chapter of Act 2 in The Devil in Me and the twentieth overall.
The player controls Charlie as he tries to find a way out of the hotel's basement. This chapter is exclusive to the Theatrical Cut.
Basement, 11:52 P.M.[]
Charlie wakes up in the basement with his ears ringing. He says he has to get out of there and can explore the small cell he is in to find the door locked and no response when he calls through the vent he fell down. He can pick up the key to his cell from a box on the wall, but as he does so a small flame shoots out and burns his fingers, causing him to drop it.
After unlocking his cell door, Charlie can now explore the rest of this section of the basement. In the next room he can find:
- Photos of Victims.
- Foreman's Log. After putting it down he hears a small metallic sound and distant footsteps.
- A switch on the wall. Pulling it opens the door to the next room and starts a nearby gramophone, which begins to play classical music.
In the next room Charlie finds another switch which opens up the next room, and can also observe a small doll tied with rope around the handle of another locked cell door nearby. In the room after that, Charlie can pull another switch to unlock the next room and look through a slat in the wall at the room outside the cell he started in. In the next room Charlie can find an obol in a drawer that he must use his business card to open before turning the final switch, which turns off the lights and replaces the classical music with the sound of a man screaming in pain. As Charlie goes back the way he came, he finds the now-headless doll burnt and on the ground, with the door it was tied to now open. Charlie can enter the final room and go through the open door to the furnace, where his cigarettes lie on the ground.
Upon picking up the cigarettes, Charlie is relieved until he realizes he doesn't have a lighter, and turns around as the door to the furnace slams shut.
- In Theatrical Cut, clips of Riddles are then displayed to show how Kate, Mark, and Jamie got to the room with a live feed of the furnace.
