Guests is the sixth chapter of Act 1 in The Devil in Me and the seventh overall.

The player controls Jamie (Theatrical Cut) and Erin (Curator's Cut) as they both hang out in the former's bedroom.

2nd Floor Corridors, 7:09 PM

Erin wanders through the corridors with her key before noticing the ferryman and the girl hugging in a doorway. The man turns to look at her, and she begins singing her "Don't Be Scared Song" before being surprised by someone touching her shoulder. She turns to see Jamie laughing, as the door behind her is heard closing. Jamie apologizes, saying that Erin is jumpy, and Erin can either be amused and say she thinks she peed a little or be assertive and say Jamie really scared her.

Erin tells Jamie that she doesn't think they're the only ones here, and when Jamie mentions the girl Kate saw, Erin confirms she saw the girl as well. Jamie suggests it is probably Du'Met's family, staff, or friends, but she is creeped out by the hotel regardless. She then asks about Erin's singing, and Erin sings her "Don't Be Scared Song" in full, to Jamie's amusement. Erin says her room is around the corner, and they begin to part ways before Jamie stops her and suggests they unpack together. Erin accepts and they head to Jamie's room.

Erin says that it looks cozy, and Jamie can be disappointed by how small it is or say it's better than doubling up like last time. Erin tells her she swears in her sleep, and Jamie jokes that she was reading Kate's social media posts. Erin defends Kate, saying that Kate has been nice to her and seems to be more upset about the break-up with Mark than she lets on. Jamie disagrees and calls Kate a robot before opening the dresser.

Erin asks where the bathroom is and says things will be "old-school," making Jamie disgusted at the thought of seeing Charlie on the toilet. Erin jokes that there's no mini-bar either, but Jamie interrupts her and reveals a bottle of wine in the dresser. Erin can either question why is there wine in the dresser or say she is worried Charlie will find out if they drink. Jamie starts drinking it anyway, and Erin questions why she is doing it. Jamie says she is thirsty and states Erin is cute when she's worked up, and Erin can be surprised that Jamie thinks she is cute or insist that she isn't worked up.

Erin then drops her lip balm as it rolls under the bed. Jamie can be amused by her clumsiness or flirtatiously ask if Erin wants to share hers. They kneel next to the bed and Erin tries to reach it before having an asthma attack. Jamie questions if Erin is trying to scare her and Erin can use her inhaler (which she always does in the Theatrical Cut). Jamie can ask Erin if she is sure she's okay or ask about her asthma. Erin says she needs to be more careful, and Jamie sits on the bed and continues drinking the wine. Erin jokes that she is now poisoned, but Jamie insists that it is not that bad, so Erin tries it. She gags immediately, and Jamie laughs, admitting that it tastes like sweaty socks. Erin calls her a liar, and Jamie can say she wasn't lying about Erin being cute or admit the wine is trash.

Erin then takes another sip, and Jamie takes the wine from her before apologizing and saying she didn't mean to make Erin feel weird. Erin can be hesitant and talk about how Charlie wants her to be more professional, resulting in her awkwardly explaining that it doesn't mean she does not find Jamie cute as well, or assure Jamie that it's fine, resulting in Jamie saying that is why she is coming on to her. The two end up facing each other, and each has the choice of either moving in or backing off.

• If both of them move in, Jamie asks what Erin is doing before revealing that she is messing with Erin and has wanted to kiss her for months. The two start making out before Erin falls off the bed and Jamie pulls her back up.
• If one of them moves in and the other does not:
  • If Jamie moved in, Erin says they shouldn't try anything and Jamie apologizes. Erin says that Charlie would be mad, and when Jamie says Charlie isn't present, Erin says that she thinks Jamie is awesome but it is probably a bad idea.
  • If Erin moved in, she apologizes, and Jamie says it's fine. Erin calls herself an idiot and says she can't believe she just did that.
• If neither of them move in, Jamie says this was a bad idea and apologizes for being pushy, and Erin says she gets it.
• In singleplayer/Movie Night, the non-controlled character always moves in.

There is a noise outside the room, and Jamie approaches the door and pulls it open to reveal Charlie standing outside. Jamie can either sarcastically ask if he's enjoying himself, be hostile (if Jamie and Erin kissed), or angrily ask if he is peeping (if Jamie and Erin did not kiss). Charlie asks if he interrupted something, and Erin can either say they were talking about the shoot, jokingly say they were talking about him (if Jamie and Erin kissed), or say she was just going to find her room (if Jamie and Erin did not kiss). Charlie says he cannot find his room and needs a cigarette, before explaining that he wants to start getting a plan in ten minutes so they can shoot after dinner. He tells Erin to help him, as he checked the blue bag and cannot find his cigarettes. As Erin grabs her bag, Jamie can ask if they're done talking, which annoys Erin, ask if they will continue later (if they kissed), or ask if they can talk later (if they did not kiss).

As Erin leaves, Jamie wishes her and Charlie luck and picks up the wine, before looking out her window. She sees the ferryman and the girl rushing back to the ferry and leaving the island with it. Confused, she continues drinking the wine, and a man is shown to be watching her from behind her room's mirror. The man is then shown adjusting a mannequin of Kate in a different room.

Trivia

• Erin and Jamie are respectively assigned rooms 181 and 183. The counter in the lobby starts at 178, then changes to 180 not long after Joseph and Bethany Morello's attempted escape, signifying it as a counter for Du'met's victims. If the protagonists die at the player's earliest convenience, Erin and Jamie would respectively be victims 181 and 183.
