We each have our own demons. They are ours and ours alone...
This article is about The Dark Pictures Anthology's second installment, Little Hope .

East County Church is a location in The Dark Pictures Anthology's second installment, Little Hope.

Description[]

The church is located near the center of the town. The building is surrounded by the fence with spikes in atop and there is also a sign at the main entrance.

The main entrance has a high threshold and leads onto the porch, where there are hangers and two benches. Also, on the right side there is a door leading to the stairs to the bell tower. The main hall is rather ruined - many benches and planks are scattered around the room, the roof is partially leaky and the windows are boarded up with planks. Next to the door on the left is a board with children's drawings hanging on it. To the right at the end of the room is a door to a small room, presumably a reverend cabinet. In the center of the hall there is an altar, to the left of which there is an organ and to the right of the back door.

During the activity of the church from 1658 until the devastation of Little Hope in 1979, it had 18 reverends.

Little Hope[]

1692[]

David attends church mourning his recently executed sister Tabitha. He meets Daniel and Taylor, who try to warn him that Mary is dangerous. At this moment, Mary herself enters the hall, along with Carver. He says they heard David talking to someone even though he was alone. He tries to prove that he communicated with Tabitha and asks Mary if she sees her too. She tries to justify David by saying that they are in a sacred place and grief has clouded his mind, but Carver still believes that David is bewitched. They climb the bell tower, where Isaac throws David down, and he is impaled on the fence.

2019[]

Andrew and John walk towards the church as they hear Taylor screaming behind them as she and Daniel escape from the Hanged/Burned Demon. The group runs to hide in a church and on the way, Andrew bumps into Vince. On the doorstep, the group sees a demon approaching a perplexed Vince and telling him to run away. Locked in the church, the group is split into two pairs:

  • John and Andrew barricade the main door and talk to Vince, not understanding what is going on. Andrew can anger him by telling him to leave, or explain the situation and ask for help.
  • Daniel and Taylor search the hall looking for another door outside to lock. However, David grabs them and the couple sees him being accused of witchcraft.

After announcing that Daniel is next, the group notices a girl ascending the bell tower. Taylor and John stay behind to guard the entrance while Andrew and Daniel follow the girl and see David executed. The rest climb the bell tower and discuss either the pattern of deaths or that they have already seen Mary somewhere. The group notices a demon near the entrance and Taylor, in a panic, offers to run away from the church. They can leave right away or stay until the Impaled Demon forces them to flee.

Outside, the group again splits into two pairs and encounters each demon:

  • John and Daniel hide from the Impaled Demon behind dumpsters, possibly fight off him, and then run out onto the road.
  • Andrew and Taylor run out onto the road, but the latter is lost in the fog. They might run into the Hanged/Burned Demon, but run away anyway.

The group, either together or having lost Daniel or Taylor, reunites and flees into the woods.

Trivia[]

  • Despite a "St. David's Episcopal Church" being referenced in several secrets as the place where Reverend Carson preached, this church has a photo of him and lists him as one of its pastors. It could be that the church was renamed, or that the original name of "St. David's Church" was imagined by Anthony, possibly in reference to the character David whom he imagined was killed here.
  • Church and Derelict Building are the only locations to appear both in 1692 and 2019.
