We each have our own demons. They are ours and ours alone...
This article is about The Dark Pictures Anthology's second installment, Little Hope .

Diversion is the unofficial prologue of Little Hope and the first chapter overall.

It is a cutscene and has no playable characters. The chapter focuses on a bus driver who, while driving through the woods of Massachusetts, is involved in an accident that triggers the events of the game.

Roadside Diner, 9:42 P.M.[]

A man gets out of the diner and walks to a parked bus. Putting the book "The Wild Magic" on the glove compartment, the driver starts the bus and pulls out onto the road. After a while, he stops at a roadblock where a state trooper approaches him. He informs the driver that due to a big accident, they closed the road and diverted all traffic through the town of Little Hope. Hearing about Little Hope, the driver becomes clearly confused, but agrees anyway, saying that he needs to get his passengers where they need to go as soon as possible, and then drives to the town.

As he drives, a dialogue between two passengers, a man and a woman, is heard behind him. The man says he's been sober for three months, which impresses the woman, who says the first 90 days are the toughest. When they drive past the welcoming Little Hope sign, the woman begins to complain about the detour. The man tries to calm her down, but the woman continues to insist and the duo argues. This causes the driver to turn to them and ask them to be quiet, but when he looks back at the road, he notices a girl who has suddenly appeared in the middle of the road. Trying to avoid her, the driver swerves, causing the bus to overturn on the slick road. The scene ends with the crashed bus.
