Dive is the third chapter of Act 1 in Man of Medan and the fourth overall.

The player controls Julia as she along with Alex dive to explore a sunken wreck. The chapter can be played fully only in Theatrical Cut.

South Pacific Wreck Site, 6:12 P.M.

Swimming around the wreck looking for an entrance, the pair notices the turret and decides to get in through it. While entering the turret, Julia can complete a QTE to avoid a metal rod (failing it will get Julia scratched, but gives no major consequences). After swimming through the entrance, Julia exclaims her happiness about them finally exploring the wreck. Along the way, Julia can find a picture.

When Julia reaches the middle of the wreck, she spots a pipe and decides to swim there, wanting to grab a note inside. Alex is against this, since Julia has to remove her rebreather and hold her breath, and she may get stuck in the narrow tube. Julia may agree or disregard Alex's advice. If Julia disregards Alex's advice, she will swim inside and can complete a QTE to grab the note (Julia has three attempts). One way or another, the pipe will break and Julia will fall out of it and Alex will immediately give her the rebreather, scolding her for being reckless.

• If QTE is completed, Julia can inspect the note, collecting the Flight Plan secret.

As the duo continues to swim, Julia can find two secrets, in which she will take the latter as a souvenir for Brad. Swimming up to the entrance of the cockpit, the couple finds a corpse, which Julia can search and find a pendant with a picture. Alex suggests that the aircraft pilots knew they were going to die in their final moments.

Having swum to the cockpit's door, Julia uses a knife or a bang stick if Alex took it in the previous chapter to open the door.

• If Julia fails the QTE, Alex will scold her and open the door himself.
• If Julia completes the QTE, she will open the door. In the case of the knife, it will subsequently break.

Inside, they will be frightened by an unexpectedly appeared moray eel, after which they will examine pilots' corpses. Julia can sit in one of the pilot's seats and attempts to move the plane control back. The wreckage begins to move and the couple decides to leave.

Eventually, when the speedboat collides with the dive line, the cockpit falls apart and the duo find themselves in the ocean.

Note: The following segment is skipped in Curator's Cut.

Julia gets scared of a shark swimming next to them, but Alex calms her down, saying that it's a grey reef shark which is not interested in them.

If Brad told Alex to go with his gut, then on the way to the surface, Alex stops Julia and proposes a ring at her. At first, Julia can say that this is some kind of prank or that they almost died, but realizing that he is serious, she can agree or refuse.

Before the pair reaches the surface, Alex reminds Julia that they need to decompress, after which an explosion happens on the Duke of Milan. Julia can stay to decompress or try to surface, but Alex stops her. When another explosion happens, Julia again can either wait to decompress or resurface, tired of waiting. Julia and Alex ask Fliss and Conrad what happened. They explain that the explosions were caused by the grill, after which Alex starts to talk about the wreck.

• If Julia accepted the proposal, she will interrupt Alex and show the ring, to which Conrad and Fliss will congratulate them and offer to celebrate.
• If Julia didn't accept the proposal or Alex didn't propose, Alex will reveal that the cockpit was broken from the plane when the fishermen ran into the dive line, angering Fliss.

Meeting The Curator

The Curator will appear, commenting on the situations with the heroes: the relationship between Alex and Brad, Alex's relationship with Julia (should she have feelings for him or not) and the relationship between Conrad and Fliss (should there a spark between them or Fliss resisted his charms). At the end, the Curator will tell that the player made choices that will affect the hero in the future. Depending on Julia's choice to decompress (should she reject Alex's offer to do it twice), the Curator will say that player is doing well, or the protagonists will regret their choice.

Trivia

• During Shared Story, both this chapter and Uninvited Guests are played at the same time.
  • In Theatrical Cut, the chapter is played in full and occurs after Uninvited Guests.
  • In Curator's Cut, the chapter ends right before the cockpit breaks from the plane and occurs before Uninvited Guests.
• If Julia fails to open the cockpit door with the knife, she will save it. Later, Conrad will be able to use the knife against Junior in Intrusion.
