The Distributor Cap is a non-collectible item in Man of Medan. It can be found by any protagonist in Cargo Hold 2, or by Alex in the lower deck. This item appears in various chapters and can finally be obtained Flooded or Matters of the Heart.

Overview

A distributor cap with the purpose to power the Duke of Milan, which was stolen by the pirates.

The distributor cap will be found rolling around the hold or being held by Olson. The distributor cap won't be obtained if:

• The other protagonist fails to catch the distributor cap and neither protagonist grabs it, then the diving protagonist pulls the lever (first variation).
• The other protagonist fails to catch the distributor cap (second variation).
• The other protagonist chooses to help the diving protagonist carrying Olson instead of catching the distributor cap (second variation).

The distributor cap will be found lying on Olson's corpse near a swarm of rats. Alex won't obtain the distributor cap if:

• He fails QTEs to get the rats off him (Theatrical Cut).
• The other protagonist opens the door in under a minute (Curator's Cut).

Effect on Story

Depending on the status of the distributor cap, different scenes will play out.

• If the distributor cap is obtained, the protagonists will leave on the Duke of Milan.
  • If Conrad escaped on the speedboat, he will board the ship looking for the other protagonists, only to be frightened from the horrors that lurk within.
  • If the military isn't called, Danny will wander the ship alone and find Olson's corpse, only to be killed by it.
  • If the military is called, two soldiers will inspect the interior, only to be killed by Danny with Olson's sledgehammer.
• If the distributor cap is lost, some protagonists will stay on the ship to search for rations, while other will sail away on the inactive Duke.
  • If Conrad escaped on the speedboat, he will rescue the stranded protagonists.
  • If the military is called, they will rescue the stranded protagonists, only for the latter to be imprisoned.
    • If they are told the name of the ship, they will shoot the protagonists.
