This article is about The Dark Pictures Anthology's fourth installment, The Devil in Me .

Director's Suite is the seventeenth and final chapter of Act 2 in The Devil in Me and the thirtieth overall.

The player controls Kate and Jamie as the girls regroup and come up with a plan to trap Du'Met.

Observation Room, 2:47 AM[]

  • In Shared Story, if Charlie died in Ignition, Kate (possibly with Erin) squeezes past a wall and hears banging coming from a room down the hall. They enter it and discover a mirror.

Kate, along with Erin if she is alive, examines the mirror in the Morellos' room.

  • In Theatrical Cut, they hear banging on the other side of the mirror and stare at it in confusion.
  • In Curator's Cut, Jamie views them from the other side of the mirror, banging her hand on the glass before picking up the tripod nearby and using it to shatter the glass.

The mirror shatters, frightening the girls on the other side. Kate is thankful to see Jamie, who helps them enter the observation room. Kate asks what the room is, and Jamie can flippantly say she is pleased to see Kate too or explain that Du'Met is watching them. If Kate found the J. Morello Sherman Book, she tells Jamie that the man on the ferry was not Du'Met, but a true crime writer named Joseph Morello. If Kate found the Mrs. Morello Animatronic, she adds that she found the decapitated body of a woman in one of the bedrooms, and if she found the Vacation Photo, she says that the woman was Joseph's wife Michelle. This prompts Jamie to say that they aren't Du'Met's first victims.

Kate asks if Jamie has seen Mark, and if Jamie saw him on the monitor, she says so. Jamie then says she's seen Du'Met nearby. The girls approach the door Du'Met was shown going through in Interrogation, and when Kate hears him on the other side, the girls hide. Du'Met goes through the door and enters the next room without noticing them, and the girls go through the door he came some and discover the Nerve Center, with Jamie and Erin commenting on its utilities in awe. Kate says it's like a director's suite, and they decide to explore it to figure out how to escape. The girls can explore the first, second, and third floors of the nerve center, with them starting on the second.

On the first floor, they can find:

On the second floor, they can find:

  • A screen showing the animatronic that can be found in Waste Disposal. Jamie says it's the guy she and Charlie saw murdered, and they realize there was never a groundskeeper.
  • A whiteboard with the crew's names and whereabouts. Charlie's name is crossed out at the furnace, and Erin's name is crossed out at her place of death if she is dead.
  • Chicago PD Badge.
  • Custom Mask Email.

On the third floor, they can find:

Jamie points out all the moving walls on the map, and Kate says Du'Met controls everything from the nerve center. Jamie says they can use this against him and suggests luring and trapping him between two moving walls to make him stuck. They realize someone will have to be bait, and Jamie says she will. Kate warns her to be careful, and when Jamie takes out her screwdriver, Kate can say Jamie can use it as a weapon or ask for it herself. Jamie can choose which one of them gets it (always following Kate's request in Theatrical Cut) before the two awkwardly embrace. If Erin is alive, she also stops Jamie at the door, telling her to come back if they did not kiss in Guests and admitting her love for Jamie if they did kiss. Jamie then leaves the nerve center in search of Du'Met.

Jamie enters a decrepit hallway and must walk down it, possibly finding a 2 obol coin along the way. She reminds herself to keep to the right, and can look through a hole in the wall, questioning if it was on the map. She enters an unfinished room, where she pulls back some medical curtains and is scared when she sees her reflection from a mirror behind them. As she squeezes past, she realizes that Du'Met is building more rooms in the hotel, and can find a 10 obol coin or look through a window into the Silver Ash Institute, being scared by Du'Met walking around inside, before entering the next hallway. Jamie can find a picture in the hallway before entering the Silver Ash Institute, where she opens a door to find Du'Met on the other side. He begins chasing her.

Jamie must complete two QTEs to reach the hallway she started in, and if she fails the second one she will lose the screwdriver if she still has it. She can choose to bluff or run before the chase continues down the hallway. Suddenly, she trips, and Du'Met approaches her. If Kate closes the first wall at the right time (which she always does in Theatrical Cut), Du'Met notices it closing behind him. Jamie can yell at Kate to close the next wall now or to wait. If Kate closes the wall slightly too early (which she does in Theatrical Cut if Jamie told her to close it now), Jamie must complete a QTE to get past it. Otherwise, Jamie gets past it and Du'Met is trapped.

Kate approaches the screen and looks at a monitor showing a camera feed of the hallway outside the room. She can flip through various feeds to track Jamie's movement and see Du'Met walking around the Silver Ash Institute. When Jamie encounters Du'Met, Kate watches her being chased back into the hallway where they plan to trap Du'Met. She can press a button to close the first wall, and if she doesn't close it too early and kill Jamie, she then hears Jamie shout at her about what to do next and can press a button to close the second wall. If she successfully does so, she sees Du'Met turn to a picture on the wall and start to rotate it. Kate looks down for a moment, and when she looks back up, she sees Du'Met is gone and yells at Jamie to run.

  • If Kate closes either of the two walls before Jamie is close to reaching them, or if Jamie fails the QTE to get past the second wall, Du'Met pins her arm to the wall with a knife. When the wall opens, Jamie attempts to crawl away, but Du'Met stabs her in the back and kills her. In the nerve center, the girls are saddened, and then scared when Du'Met enters. They flee into a nearby hallway and the chapter ends.
  • If the second wall closes and Jamie gets past it, she is relieved for a moment, but Du'Met appears from the shadows and continues the chase.

Jamie bangs on the door to the nerve center as Du'Met closes in. Finally, she is let back in, but Du'Met follows her. As the girls back away from him, he presses some buttons on a panel below the map they were looking at before chasing them into the next hallway. The girls become separated before Kate and Jamie both run into the glass trap, a room with a large wall of glass in the center and a button on Jamie's side. The doors close behind them, and Jamie points out that the button has a reverse symbol on it just as the glass wall begins moving toward her. The two girls try to push the glass to no avail, and if one of them has the screwdriver they hit the glass with it, but there is still no effect. Jamie says the wall will go the other way if she presses the button, but Kate will die.

Kate can say Du'Met is making Jamie choose who dies or say she doesn't want to die. Jamie apologizes, and then can say she she can't let herself die or refuse to play Du'Met's game. Jamie can then do an aiming QTE to press the button, while in Curator's Cut she presses it if Kate did not say she doesn't want to die.

  • If Jamie does not press the button, she tells Kate to tell everyone she chose this as the wall moves toward her.
  • If Jamie presses the button after saying she can't let herself die, Kate says it's not on her, but still begs for help as the wall moves toward her.
  • If Jamie presses the button after saying she won't play Du'Met's game, Kate angrily asks how she could do this and begs for help as the wall moves toward her.

The wall begins crushing the person it was sent toward.

  • If the person being crushed has the screwdriver, there is a cracking sound and the screen cuts to black.
  • If the person being crushed does not have the screwdriver, their head is crushed against the wall, and the other person looks on in despair.

Meeting The Curator[]

The player meets with the Curator standing near one of the tall glass windows. He says that it's an excruciating way to go and discusses the situation, while looking at the ambiance outside and walking back to his desk.

  • If Jamie was killed before reaching the glass trap, the Curator says that Jamie and Kate weren't on the same page with their plan to catch Du'Met and that deep down Kate will always know she played a part in Jamie's death. He adds it's not the first time Kate has let down a friend of hers like that.
  • If Jamie was not killed before reaching the glass trap, he makes a comment on whether or not the button was pressed:
    • If Jamie pressed the button, he says Jamie and Kate didn't always see eye to eye, but he didn't think she'd be that cold blooded.
    • If Jamie didn't press the button, he says she chose to spare Kate at the cost of her own life. He adds that this is admirable and that people can surprise sometimes.

The Curator takes his pen and makes some records in his book, while discussing status of other protagonists. He starts with Erin:

  • If Erin died in Surgery, he notes that her "Don't Be Scared" song has a catchy tune, but sadly it didn't work.
  • If Erin died in Breathless, he says Jamie didn't choose to save her when she could and left Erin to die, deprived of oxygen and suffocating to death.

Then he comments on Charlie's status:

  • If Charlie is alive, the Curator notes that Charlie has proved himself capable by surviving the furnace and every other obstacle.
  • If Charlie crushed in the shredder or was caught by Du'Met again, he says Charlie managed to escape the furnace, only to fall straight into Du'Met's grasp.

The Curator stands up from his chair and walks towards the bookshelves. He comments on the player's decision to take the first hint or not.

  • If the player agreed to take a hint, the Curator asks if it helped them and if they want another.
  • If the player refused, the Curator says the player probably regrets their decision and ask them do they want a hint now.

He stands near the books and offers to give the player a second hint. There are two variations of the hint, depending on the tape, which Erin can listen to in Silver Ash.

  • If the player accepts and Erin listened to the audio tape, he quotes from Arthur Conan Doyle's "The Valley of Fear""The temptation to form premature theories upon insufficient data is the bane of our profession."
  • If the player accepts and Erin didn't listen to the tape, the Curator quotes from Doyle's "The Man with the Twisted Lip""A trusty comrade is always of use, and a chronicler, still more so." He also adds how he thinks that last part might refer to him.
  • If the player refuses or stays silent, he says that they're on their own.
  • (In Shared Story) If the players' answers contradict, he advises them to get on the same page before it costs them more than a little help.

The Curator turns around and tells the player to get back. He says he hopes their chats are helpful, as he doesn't want them to be intimidating. The Curator also adds that he'll be watching their progress very closely, as always.
