“ | My fate is not a memory you should carry. | ” |
David Milton is a supporting character and subsequently an antagonist in The Dark Pictures Anthology's second installment, Little Hope. He was one of the Puritans involved in the witch trials of Little Hope in 1692, and one of its victims. He was voiced and motion captured by Scott Haining and was modelled on Jonathan Burteaux. His motion capture performance was assisted by Michael Jinks.
Appearance[]
David is a young man with a white complexion. He has brown eyes and medium long curly brown hair.
David wears traditional clothing for Puritan men. It includes a brown cutaway tailcoat with a cream shirt underneath, brown breeches with a belt and tall black boots. During the execution, David is shown without the tailcoat and belt.
Personality[]
David is shown as a calm and composed man, as befits a traditional Puritan. He, like Tabitha, stands out for his deep love and care for his family, whom according to David he would never harm even while under the control of beings from heaven or hell.
Unfortunately, such love for the sisters led to false accusations of witchcraft and David's execution. However, despite his imminent death, David met it fearlessly, continuing to care for his only remaining sister, Mary.
Biography[]
David was born in the early 1670s and was the only son of Martha Milton, as well as the younger brother of Tabitha and the older brother of Mary. In 1690, during the celebration of the Commencement Day, Little Hope was attacked by the French and Indian armies. In the massacre, several people were taken as slaves, among them was Martha, which led to the children living on their own.
In 1692, David was involved in the witch trials when he mourned Tabitha's death while being alone in church. Carver noticed David at this process and accused him of witchcraft. Subsequently, David was sentenced to death and executed by being thrown on spear fence from the bell tower.
Three centuries later, in 2019, David returned as the Impaled Demon and began to haunt a group of college people, specifically his double Daniel, in an attempt to kill him.

Main Story[]
Act 1[]
David attends Amy's trial, which he visits with his sisters. He is in the background watching the trial in silence, but becomes more active when Mary gets "possessed". Later on, David attends Tabitha's execution with Mary, where he is seen comforting his younger sister.
Act 2[]
David then goes to church, where he encounters Daniel and Taylor. He tells the two that something is going on at Little Hope that changed everyone, including Mary, when their dialogue is interrupted by Mary herself and Carver. The Reverend, seeing David talking alone, accuses him of turning to the same dark forces as Amy and Tabitha. Mary tries to justify her brother by saying that he wants to drive the spirits away, but Carver ignores her words, taking the girl away from David.
For the last time, David appears in the bell tower, where he is seen tied up and standing high above a fence of spears. Mary begs Carver to spare her brother as he is the only relative she has, but the reverend remains adamant in his decision. As Carver says that David's death will protect them and Little Hope, Isaac knocks him off the bell tower. However, Daniel manages to catch his double, causing the others to see David levitating. As Daniel and Andrew try to lift David, Isaac cuts the ropes and David falls down, impaling himself onto the fence.

Relationships[]
Mary[]
Mary is David's younger sister. David loved his sister so much that, according to him, he would never hurt Mary, even while under someone else's influence. Another example of concern for his sister is David's request to Mary to leave the bell tower, as he didn't want her to remember his death. In turn, Mary also cared for David, which is shown when she asked Carver to spare her brother.
Tabitha[]
Tabitha is David's older sister. The two didn't interact with each other, though they attended Amy's trial together. Despite this, the siblings were very close, as after Tabitha's execution, David mourned her death and was happy to see Taylor, mistaking her for his sister.
