Chase is the second chapter of Act 3 in The Devil in Me and the thirty-second overall.
The player controls Kate/Jamie as they flee from Du'Met on the rooftops.
3rd Floor Corridors, 3:14 AM[]
The surviving women run from Du'Met and hide behind a door. As they think they're safe, Du'Met slams his knife through it, scaring them. They head for a window. After climbing outside onto a ledge, the controlled character must complete two QTEs to avoid Du'Met grabbing for them from the window, though they escape his grasp regardless.
- If Erin is alive, they are separated from her and tell her to get down from the roof, which Erin reluctantly agrees to.
They then climb up the roof, and can complete a QTE to kick the knife out of Du'Met's mouth as he crawls after them before reaching the rooftop.
- If the player is controlling Kate, she then hides inside a locker and must complete six brief Keep Calm segments as she whispers to herself to breathe. Du'Met picks up a metal pipe and begins shoving it through the lockers. If the Keep Calm is completed, Kate can then choose to stay in the locker or run.
- If Kate completes the Keep Calm and chooses to run, she slams the locker door into Du'Met and runs across the rooftop.
- If Kate fails the Keep Calm or does not run, Du'Met opens the locker she is in and pulls her out, causing her to lose her crystal if she has it and requiring her to complete QTEs to keep running. Failing them causes him to grab her with the pipe.
- If the player is controlling Jamie, she spots Du'Met approaching and runs. She must complete several QTEs to avoid falling and being hit by Du'Met.
- If enough QTEs are completed, Jamie runs across the rooftop.
- If too many QTEs are failed, Jamie is grabbed by Du'Met with the pipe.
If the controlled character has not been grabbed by Du'Met with the pipe, they can choose to hide behind a large chimney or keep running.
- If they hide, Du'Met slowly approaches the chimney. If the controlled character has the crystal (as Kate) or screwdriver (as Jamie), they can optionally throw it at a bottle to distract Du'Met, causing them to lose it. Otherwise, they must complete two Keep Calm segments.
- If the bottle is shattered or the Keep Calm is succeeded, the controlled character evades Du'Met.
- If the Keep Calm is failed, the controlled character is grabbed by Du'Met with the pipe.
- If they run, they must complete several QTEs to avoid falling and being hit by Du'Met.
- If enough QTEs are completed, the controlled character evades Du'Met.
- If too many QTEs are failed, the controlled character is grabbed by Du'Met with the pipe.
The controlled character and Du'Met reach the edge of the roof, where some scaffolding forms a loose railing.
- If the controlled character evaded Du'Met:
- If Kate and Jamie are alive, Kate sees that Jamie has been grabbed by Du'Met with the pipe and can choose to save her or flee.
- If Kate flees, Jamie begs Kate to help as she enters the scaffolding and runs away. Du'Met then pushes Jamie toward the railings, causing them to fall away and grabbing Jamie's arm to catch her. Jamie is then thrown off the roof and impaled on a pole on the way down.
- If Kate or Jamie is dead, or Kate does not flee if Jamie was grabbed, the controlled character grabs another metal pipe and faces off with Du'Met, with Jamie being let go if she had been grabbed. They must complete a QTE to knock the pipe from Du'Met's hand, and another to knock away the knife if it was not kicked out of his mouth earlier. If these QTEs are completed, the controlled character and Du'Met wrestle for control of the pipe, and two more QTEs must be completed.
- If all these QTEs are completed, the railings give way and Du'Met is thrown off the roof.
- If any QTE is failed, Du'Met grabs the controlled character with the pipe.
- If Kate and Jamie are alive, Kate sees that Jamie has been grabbed by Du'Met with the pipe and can choose to save her or flee.
- If the controlled character was grabbed by Du'Met with the pipe, he brings them to the edge of the roof before letting go and pushing them toward it, causing the railings to fall away. He then grabs their arm to catch them from falling.
- If Kate and Jamie are alive and Kate did not already save Jamie, Kate notices Jamie nearby and can yell at her to run or ask for help.
- If she asks for help, Jamie rams into Du'Met, causing Kate to be let go but sending them both falling through the scaffolding. Jamie is impaled on a pole on the way down.
- If Kate or Jamie is dead, Kate does not ask Jamie for help, or Kate already saved Jamie, Du'Met then throws the controlled character off the roof.
- If Kate and Jamie are alive and Kate did not already save Jamie, Kate notices Jamie nearby and can yell at her to run or ask for help.
- If the controlled character was thrown off the roof, they fall through the scaffolding and land on the ground below. They are stunned, but alive, and get up.
- If Erin is alive, she helps them get up and says she may have found a way out.
- If Jamie was impaled and Erin is alive, Erin asks how Kate could leave Jamie (if Kate fled) or be sad about Jamie (if Kate asked for help).
- If Du'Met was thrown off the roof, the survivors inspect his body, and Erin (if alive) congratulates the controlled character. If Kate saved Jamie, Jamie thanks her and apologizes for her past insults. If Kate is alive and Jamie was not impaled, Kate picks up Du'Met's hat and throws it on him, telling him to rot in hell. If Kate is dead but Erin is alive, Jamie kicks Du'Met in the side. As the survivors begin to walk away, Du'Met gets up and put his hat back on, scaring them.
- If Du'Met was not thrown from the roof, the survivors notice him coming down the scaffolding.
The survivors run down the steps and flee.

- If Kate escapes Du'Met and flees when she sees Jamie gets caught, Jamie will fall from the roof and be impaled on a pole.
