The Black Cat Bar is a location in The Dark Pictures Anthology's second installment, Little Hope.
Description[]
The tavern is quite small and located far from the rest of the buildings in the town, almost on the border. Outside there is a sign with the name of the bar - it is stylized as a black cat hiding behind the sign, but with visible ears and tail. There is a bicycle parking along the wall. To the right of the bar is a courtyard with picnic tables and a map of the town.
From the inside, the bar looks like a loft and for 48 years it has become very dirty and shabby - the corners are brick, and other parts of the walls are cracked plaster, the ceiling is made of beams of orange lamps, the windows are covered with curtains and the tiles are broken in some places on the floor.
In the corner, next to the exit, there is a pool table, above which there are two black lamps and shelves with awards and a small TV. In the hall, against one wall, there are several small round and square tables with ashtrays, empty bottles and stools. On the other side, there is a long bar counter, behind which there are several half-empty shelves with drinks. At the end of the hall there is a small corridor with an old telephone and two doors - the left one leads to the toilet and the right one possibly leads to the staff room, from which there is a second door to the bar counter. A dart board hangs against the wall.
Little Hope[]
2019[]
After the group is reunited after the bus crash, they head to the town and find a bar. The group decides to go there, hoping to find a phone or some help. Inside, the group finds a lonely drinking man who introduces himself as Vince and goes about their business:
- John and Andrew ask Vince about the town, the fog, and the phone.
- Angela leaves to look for a mirror, and after that she is busy at the table in the corner of the hall.
- Taylor and Daniel go to play dart and also discuss their relationship/opinion of others.
After playing darts and questioning Vince, the group can look around the bar and find a phone, but it won't work. Not finding anything useful, the group goes to the exit and hears the ringing of bells. Believing that there is someone in the town, they leave the bar, leaving Vince alone again.
Trivia[]
- The brand of beer that Vince drinks is called "The Singing Nickel". James drank the same beer in the prologue.
- It also appears as a reference in House of Ashes, as in one of the newspapers in the briefing room, there is an advertisement for this beer.
