Angela

Just because other people believe all sorts of garbage, doesn't mean I'm about to.

Angela is one of the five main protagonists and a playable character in The Dark Pictures Anthology's second installment, Little Hope. She is a college student in John's creative writing class and the oldest of the group, though in actuality, she is a creation of Anthony's imagination. She was voiced and motion captured by Ellen David and was modelled on Rachel Dobell. Her motion capture performance was assisted by Kerry Norton.

Appearance[]

Angela is an older woman with light, wrinkled skin. She has cloudy blue eyes, covered by a pair of thin rimless glasses which are almost invisible, and short hazelnut hair with bangs falling over her face like a curtain.

Like John, Angela's costume is all made in one color. She wears a gray tuxedo, with pants much darker than the jacket, complemented by a pair of color-matched Oxford shoes. A pink T-shirt with white lines stands out against the gray image. Angela wears a lot of small jewelry in mostly cool hues, including green earrings, a purple necklace, a silver collar pin, a silver bracelet, and gold rings.

After the bus crash, Angela is the least injured protagonist, making do with only several visible dirt marks on her skin and clothes. However, should she survive her demon attack in the sewers in Lost, she will be completely stained in the muddy water. She also loses her glasses, which John can pick up and then give to Angela at Low Point, though she will not wear them due to one lens being broken.

Personality[]

AngelaTraits

Angela's profile at the start of the game.

Despite her age, Angela has quite a sharp tongue. She always expresses her opinions, even if it is negative, causing Angela to engage in arguments with other protagonists, particularly Taylor and John. She possesses what can be considered a narcissistic attitude, being angry about getting her expensive clothes dirty and even planning to charge the college who is responsible for their trip. In one of her dialogues with Andrew, Angela calls herself a natural survivor. After tough marriage and even more tough divorce, she has learned to be independent from others, relying only on herself. This reveals her selfish side, as Angela can refuse to accept Andrew's help on the bridge and abandon John while he fights against his demon.

Although Angela seems like a mean person, Daniel, having known her for a long time, says that she has a soft side despite bad times in her past. While she doesn't like when someone shows concern for her, thinking that they see her as helpless, sometimes Angela can be genuinely grateful for help, especially when she cannot handle problem on her own. She also shows understanding and compassion for the other protagonists, especially Andrew and John due to spending nearly the entire game with them.

While traveling travels through Little Hope, Angela finds it more and more difficult to cope with supernatural events under her current principles. She can continue to be selfish and rely only on herself, or learn to be more empathic to her classmates and trust them.

Biography[]

Angela was born in the early 1970s and was married to an unknown man. She said that her marriage was a tough one, and that her divorce was even tougher. She became comfortable being a loner and did not want to lead the group, preferring for everyone to look out for themselves. At some point, she enrolled in college and found herself taking John's creative writing class, and agreed to attend a field trip. Apparently, she and Daniel have known each other for a long time and are friends.

On May 28, 2019, Angela was aboard a bus with her fellow college students and professor, as they were going on a class field trip. That was, until a detour towards Little Hope and a bus crash changed their trip into something paranormal. They were trapped in the ghost town and must figure out the roots of the evil before all their souls get dragged to Hell. Her fate would then be decided by the player, in which she would leave the town intact or forever be trapped with the other lost souls.

Little Hope[]

Prologue[]

She is first heard after the bus begins the detour towards Little Hope, commenting to John that if he keeps rubbing his AA meeting chip, it will wear away to nothing, before asking how long he's been sober. When he responds that he's a few days short of 3 months, she congratulates him, saying that it's impressive as she's heard the first 90 days are the toughest and roughest. When Angela realizes that they're going the wrong way, she starts to complain with John trying to calm her down stating that it's fine and it's just a quick detour. Angela, however, fires back that it is not fine, and when John tries again to tell her to calm down, she tells him to stop patronizing her, before the bus driver asks them to keep it down just before he sees a little girl in the road.

Main Story[]

Act 1[]

When the bus crashes, Angela and Daniel are both flung from the back of the bus and end up landing in a ravine. While on their way to reunite with the others, Angela insults Taylor behind her back in front of Daniel. Reunited, the group will talk about their plan to go into town. Soon after, Angela and Taylor start arguing, but Daniel will shut her up. When Taylor decides to return to the bus (with or without Daniel), Angela will watch them return because of the fog and will refuse to believe them. After making sure on her own that the fog does not let them back, Angela, along with the others, begins to panic. When Andrew, in far more rage than before, calms everyone down, the group continues down the road.

Angela stumbles across the bar with the others. When Andrew says that he remembers this place, Angela may ask or joke about it, after which they will enter the bar. In the bar, Angela tries to find a mirror, after which she will sit at a coffee table. Like everyone else, she will hear bells ringing and go into town. Angela and Andrew lag behind the group and get lost in the fog. After finding a straw doll, they meet a girl who introduces herself as Mary, and a mysterious woman in a dark cloak named Amy. Reunited with the rest, they start talking about it, but they are not believed and they keep going.

Angela walks along the road with the others. When Andrew surveys the area from the slope, Angela can talk to him about what happened. Upon reaching the intersection, Angela can decide whether to go with John or not. If Angela goes with him, she will be shocked at Amy that looks just like her. The group begins to split up and Angela can either follow Andrew and John down the road or Daniel and Taylor to the school.

If Angela chose to follow Andrew and John, they will continue down the road and will be frightened by a figure, who reveals themselves to be Vince. Angela along with the others find a shack, to which John is scared away by a noise. If Andrew finds a gun in the shack, he will show it to Angela. Angela will scold him and may propose to throw the gun, to which she can be successful in doing so. If Andrew runs away, Angela will say that there was just a cat in the shack. Either way, the group breaks into the police station. When the group finds a phone, they have a brief celebration until when John realizes the phone is inactive, causing him to become ferocious and savage and throw down a filing cabinet, whom Angela scolds him for it. When the phone rings, Andrew/John picks it up until they are grabbed by Amy. Having witnessed the trial, Angela talks about it.

If Angela chose to follow Daniel and Taylor, they will arrive at the school's playground where they meet the girl. When Daniel reaches out to her, Mary grabs them instead. Angela along with the others will witness Carver talking to Mary. Reaching at a general store, Daniel goes in while Angela and Taylor go around it. When they leave the grocery store, Daniel can talk about Amy's arrest to Angela.

Reunited, the group walks to the destroyed bridge. When Angela starts crossing it, part of the bridge breaks, separating them from Daniel and Taylor. Having catching up to Andrew and John who witnessed Amy's execution, Angela asks what do they see. After descending to the ground, the Drowned Demon appears from the water and gives chase, targeting Angela specifically. Here, she will either climb up the slope and flee (whether with Andrew's help or not) or die to the demon.

Act 2[]

Angela, along with the others, escape to the cemetery and have a brief conversation about the threat before moving on. On the main road, they hide from Vince, thinking he's a monster again. After Vince leaves, they investigate an empty house. After exploring the house, the group notices the girl and follows her into the alley. Angela lags behind the group and is attacked by the demon. Despite the efforts and help from John or Andrew, Angela is dragged into the sewers, where she can escape from the demon or be killed.

Act 3[]

Thinking that Angela is one of the demons, the group will either hide from her or Andrew will aim his gun towards her. Angela may either meet up and reunite with the group or be shot in the throat. When the group is attacked by the Impaled Demon, Angela and John lag behind the others. Soon, the group reunites and flees the woods. Angela along with the others arrive at a derelict building and later has a conversation with the others about Mary. The group goes to the factory and Angela explores around before exiting it.

Eventually, Angela with the others stumble upon the burnt Clarkes' house, where they encounter the girl and later on witness Joseph's execution. After the execution, Angela along with John are attacked by their respective demons, in which Angela will retreat to the house or die. Angela may follow Andrew upstairs and find themselves in another court trial where Mary is accused. Angela can help Andrew to blame Mary, the poppet, or expose Carver. Either way, Angela along with the others decide to leave the house. If Angela fails to break her locked traits or Mary was executed, she will be killed by her demon.

The End[]

If Angela survives, she will leave Little Hope alongside Andrew and the others.

  • If Andrew has a bad relationship with Vince, Angela will witness Andrew being arrested by the officer.
  • If Andrew has a good relationship with Vince, the group reaches the diner. Regardless of her fate, after Andrew apologizes, Angela will comfort him.

When it is revealed that Andrew is Anthony/the bus driver, Angela will disappear as she is a hallucination.

John[]

John is Angela's teacher. She criticizes him the most in the group, considering John a coward and unreliable. However, in some stressful situations, Angela can support John, for example, go with him to explore the bridge and stay with him and Andrew. After escaping from the demon, she is glad to see John and will praise him if everyone is alive. If John managed to save Angela but died himself, she will be surprised to see that John actually cared for the group.

Andrew[]

Andrew is Angela's classmate. She gets along well with him and sometimes jokes comfortably with him. Although Angela hardly criticizes Andrew, she can scold him if he finds a gun. After meeting Mary, Angela spends most of her time with Andrew, as well as with John, before she escapes from the demon in the sewers.

Taylor[]

Taylor is Angela's classmate. For unknown reasons, Angela dislikes Taylor. She believes that although she looks demanding and arrogant, she cannot stand up for herself. It also shows when the group reunites at the pylon, where Angela begins to argue with Taylor. Although their relationship is negative at the start of the game, they can get better as the game progresses, when Angela can apologize for the argument and go with Taylor to intersection. When Angela reunites with the group in the woods, Taylor will be happy to see her.

Daniel[]

Daniel is Angela's classmate. They are old friends. They get along well, although Angela pries into his and Taylor's relationship and speaks negatively about Taylor, as she doesn't understand why Daniel likes her. Despite their friendship, they sometimes quarrel, often over Angela's negative comments. When each of them manages to escape from the demon, they happily meet each other.
